Meeting Minutes

April 14, 2010

Meeting Start time: 7:30 PM

 

 

1.)                Property Survey

 

S. Rich provided a status report on the Request for Proposals.

                       

ˇ        All requests have been sent out, and responses are due on 4.29.10

ˇ        RFPs to be delivered to Town Hall and D. Martin will collect them.

ˇ        Once received, a Special Meeting will need to be set to review all RFPs

The meeting will be scheduled for April 29, 2010 @ 7:30 PM

ˇ        D. Martin suggested that we review the proposed list of sites and make a list of any additional sites that also qualify.

ˇ        B. Rosenbaum mentioned that the Brookfield home on Massapoag Ave would be a good example to be added to the inventory list.

ˇ        Other sites to consider; 20 Cottage Street, 15 Belcher Street

 

 

2.)                Cell Towers

 

ˇ        D. Martin received notice that a cell tower is proposed for 68 Mohawk Street and on the Massapoag Ave. water tower. These notices are informational only, no historical site impact.

 

3.)                Unitarian Church

 

ˇ        Open House and Service to be held on May 16, 2010, 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM

 

4.)                Wilbur School

 

ˇ        Open House to be held on April 26, 2010, 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM

 

5.)                Canton Street Cemetery

 

ˇ        D. Martin spoke to B. Puritz regarding a letter from a resident who is concerned that the stone wall at the site is falling apart. The question of using CPC funds to do the repairs was mentioned as a way to pay for the repairs. D. Martin will speak to K. Weber at the DPW to see what can be done. The DPW would need to submit a request for funding, not SHC.

 

6.)                Displaced Grave Stones

 

ˇ        D. Martin spoke with K. Weber at the DPW regarding the head stones that were found adjacent to the old town landfill on Mountain Street. They need to be returned to their appropriate locations. Research needs to be done to accomplish this task. B. Rosenbaum suggested that we research each person and their relatives to complete this.

 

7.)                Sharon Historical Society

 

ˇ        The upcoming Open House Tour was discussed. S. Schofield and B. Rosenbaum spoke about the various sites that were going to be open to the public.
